Would you get on an airplane if it you knew the flight would fail 25-70% of the time? What if it was only 1% of the time? Would you get on an airplane if you knew one out of every hundred (1:100) flights would fail? That would be a failure rate of approximately one flight per hour, every hour, out of Newark International Airport alone (or that of any other major international airport). click here for more

I believe it might be safely said without debate that the most important date in the history of Supply Chain and Logistics is April 26th, 1956. This is the date that the SS Ideal-X set sail from the Port of Newark in New Jersey (USA). Five days later, when it arrived in the Port of Houston in Texas (USA), marked the beginning of a new era. click here for more

Several years ago, I discovered that one of the technology partners of my firm had a nickname for me – it is “CJ”. For the life of me, I could not figure-out how they came-up with that as a nickname. I mean, my brother’s name is Christopher John – so that would actually make some sense. But he never worked with me at the firm and there is no way anyone would confuse the two of us. click here for more

We all look at the world from one perspective – our own. The perspectives we hold are born out of the circumstances of our upbringing and further developed by the experiences we gain during our lives. As such, one would expect that the perspective of some who have experienced much in their lives will be wider than one whose experiences have been more limited. click here for more

It’s been another one of “those years”… However, it is certainly not as bad as everyone thinks – or the media would have you believe – or the politicians would manipulate you into behaving as if it is. If you follow the news (and I am sure you do), the year has been one long drama full of strife and turmoil; Arab Spring, Occupy Wall-Street, the corrosive political environment that exists in the States, the ugliness of the drug wars in Mexico – to name just a few.

I enjoy guest lecturing at University. In fact, it is one of my most favourite things I do. I believe what I enjoy most is the optimism and energy of the students. They are far too young in their careers to have been tarnished by the pragmatism, and even cynicism, of “real life” – or to have had their ambitions squelched by a jealous manager whose best days are past. click here for more
